Since qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist in July 2015, I have worked with schools and private clients across Yorkshire providing detailed assessments, 1:1 and group therapy sessions. I joined the Talking House in September 2016 to develop my knowledge and skills further, working in a range of settings including school, nurseries, private clinics and client’s homes.
I work with children with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties, and I am particularly fascinated in all aspects of speech sound production. Working at The Talking House allows me to develop my areas of interest to a more specialist level, and I am enjoying gaining specialist skills in the areas of speech sound production and hearing impairment. I love researching and exploring new techniques to support my clients to achieve their full potential. I make my sessions as engaging as possible for my clients, by finding the things that motivate them with their learning.
I have completed training courses in Makaton and Intensive Interaction, and recently in more specialist areas related to speech sound disorders and hearing impairment. I love using these specialist skills to support my clients to achieve the best they possible can. I am also a member of a Specific Language Impairment Special Interest Group, which helps me to keep up-to-date with the latest research and interventions to support children with language impairment.
I love a challenge and finding the most effective way to support my clients, and I enjoy working collaboratively with other members of the team, parents, teachers and healthcare professionals to provide the best possible support. I feel very lucky to be a Speech and Language Therapist, and love to see children’s enthusiasm and confidence growing as they progress in their sessions.
