  • Laura Thundercliff - The Talking House

    I have worked as a speech and language therapist since qualifying in 2011 with an award for highest professional and personal development. Up until September 2013 I worked in the NHS covering community clinics, mainstream and specialist educational settings before joining The Talking House full time.

    I have trained in a range of interventions and tools for communication such as PECS, Makaton, TEACCH, SCERTS, PODD and attended workshops in Attention Autism, Sensory Integration and Specific Language Impairment. Following training from the Autism Education Trust I completed a portfolio of work in order to identify knowledge around Autism and best practise when working with individuals with Autism in schools. This led to an invitation to a celebration event at the House of Commons in 2016, which was great to be a part of.

    I currently work in Specialist Inclusion Learning Centres (SILCS), mainstream primary schools and with individual clients with a range of complex communication difficulties.

    Working with the The Talking House team is fantastic and we all work together to ensure our skill set and knowledge base supports each individual client and family.

    I feel every child should have their therapy sessions individualised to suit their personality in order for them to engage, enjoy and succeed. Watching each child progress and become proud of their achievements is what is so fantastic about my job.
