Children use language to communicate their thoughts and feelings, ask for things, tell stories, make friends, ask questions and demonstrate their learning. With knowledge about the typical development of expressive language (use of language), we can better support those children who are having difficulties and use the most appropriate strategies to encourage their progress.
This training course explains the typical development of expressive language and includes advice on setting up reasons and opportunities for language, modelling language and supporting vocabulary and narrative development.
This training pack has been developed by Speech and Language Therapists Laura and Leanne.
