Many of the children we support rely on forms of communication other than speech. This is known as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Children using AAC need lots of support from the people around them to learn how to use their communication system successfully. We have put together some advice for selecting the most appropriate words to teach children using AAC and information on how to support children to use their AAC system functionally across the day.

This pack has been developed by Laura T and Laura N (Senior Speech and Language Therapists at The Talking House) who have a combined experience of almost 20 years working with children to develop their speech, language and communication.

We hope that you enjoy the training.
